Oral History Interview:

The heartbeat of heritage lies in the stories passed down through generations. Oral history interviewing

brings these stories to life, preserving the laughter, wisdom, and resilience of those who lived them.

For families, it fosters a sense of unity and identity. For communities and organizations, it builds

archives of cultural richness that educate, inspire, and empower. HAR understands the importance

of oral history to compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act in certain

situations. Our oral history interviewing services align seamlessly with Section 106 compliance, offering

resources to document community narratives and support consultation efforts. HAR's expertise can

assist in preparing materials for federally funded or permitted projects, ensuring that voices remain

integral to preservation strategies, and carried out in an ethical and sensitive manner. Recommended

for historic preservation projects, sacred spaces, burial grounds, archaeological habitation sites, NHPA

nomination, cultural landscape studies, interpretive programs and exhibits, disaster recovery and

resilience planning, and community-driven initiatives. Pricing does not include travel expenses beyond

Cultural Resources Assessment:

At Harris Anthropological Research (HAR), we delve deep into the intricate layers of

history and culture to equip our clients with insights that ensure their projects not

only comply with permit requirements but also honor and protect cultural heritage.

Our comprehensive records checks are like a compass, guiding you through the

often-complex terrain of regulations and preservation to help you avoid pitfalls and

proceed with confidence, and give you a heads-up to avoid costly last-minute surprises

simply avoidable with early redesigns. It can be very complicated with local

governments, state subsidiary lands (e.g., districts), Tribal nations, and Federal

agencies strings attached that can trigger different laws depending on how they are

involved. These record checks empower you to craft compliant plans that protect

cultural treasures, from sacred sites and cemeteries to rock art and State Antiquity Landmarks. In Texas, these resources form the rich mosaic of our shared heritage—one that deserves thoughtful stewardship and respectful preservation.

What You’ll Receive:

This assessment covers fatal flaw analysis, feasibility study, regulatory risk analysis, constraints mapping, and site selection study, pertaining to cultural resource considerations, all in one. You’ll receive a written brief report: detailing the records checked; results of records checked while maintaining confidentiality; explanation of applicable authorities; guidance on next suggested logistical steps; and an assessment of what cultural resource issues may warrant a redesign of the project to avoid, or whether archaeological permit(s) or desktop reviews will be necessary. This is not a desktop review report; rather, it is an advisement on whether one is needed.

Hourly Rate: $107

    • 10% off Veteran’s (including Veteran-owned business) discount. Not stackable with other discounts.

in deeds, archives, landscapes, and politics. At HAR, we fuse deep archival

investigation with interpretive analysis to uncover, document, and elevate historical

significance—whether for landowners seeking validation, institutions preserving

heritage, or communities advocating for recognition. We can provide genealogical
